The Computer Lies- Martin Noakes

Look at the screen to see where you've been
You won't escape us
Never get away you'll never make it
Overrun by your invention

Nothing to do no need to think
It's all done for you
Every little thing with no exception
All your power taken from you

Answer yes or no
Tell me where you want to go
I need to authorise
(I need to authorise)
Who do you want to be?
We control your mind, your memory
Don't you realise
The computer lies

Don't venture out into the street
You're not allowed there
Virtually free, without the freedom
From now on you're just a number

Answer yes or no
Tell me where you want to go
I need to authorise
(I need to authorise)
Who do you want to be?
We control your life, your memory
Don't you realise
The computer lies

Can't get away from us
We're here to stay, we're here to stay
Won't go away

We needed you, our need is through
You're only hardware, linked to a machine
A cyber being
This was always our intention

Answer yes or no
Tell me where you want to go
I need to authorise
(I need to authorise)
Who do you want to be?
We control your mind, your memory
Don't you realise
The computer lies

This is the oldest song on the album 1981. The original demo featured guitar by Tim Renwick and Keyboards by Tim Cross, Mike Oldfield’s keyboard Player at the time, (sadly no longer with us).

I re-recorded the track, but didn't need to re-write it in any way. This song explores a world where computers are capable of thinking for themselves (A.I.) and ultimately overrun us, (not so farfetched today). Research the robots that DARPA are working on, TERRIFYING!
